A dilapidated, dark and damp terrace house in a heritage area was reinstated and extended to suit the needs of a growing family.

A project by Kieran McInerney Architect, the design focusses on drawing natural light into deep spaces and maintaining outdoor areas to be private from multiple overlooking neighbours.

Differing ceiling heights and light from complex angles counter-balances the open plan areas from the terrace house tunnel effect.

A small courtyard links the terrace with a timber clad studio. Timber lining boards and lime washed timber flooring provide texture and rhythym to be accentuated by the changing light patterns which filter in through the course of the day.
