A residential project by Kieran McInerney Architect, Vaucluse Residence sits atop a hilltop with expansive views over Sydney Harbour.
Components of the existing brick building were retained and re-incorporated to provide thermal mass and maximise environmentally responsible construction.
A series of paths, stairs and landings provide a sequential journey with teasing glimpses of views through the living floor to the rooftop lookout.
All living areas and bedrooms have an independent relationship to an outdoor area, with angled walls and openings located to frame and accentuate particular harbour views and respect the privacy of occupants and neighbours.
Each floor is organised around a central, passive solar living area with further design emphasis on natural light and ventilation.
